30 Minutes or Your Order Is Free…wait no…30 Minute Mile? …no…

Today, Tuesday 10 July 2008 marks a good day on the running front for me.  I ran 30 minutes non-stop today.  If that seems like nothing to you, that’s probably good because it means you are in shape.  It’s a big deal for me because a scant NINE weeks ago I couldn’t run more than literally for 3 or 4 minutes at a time without slowing to a walk.  Yeah.  Seriously.

It’s been a good trip so far.  I’m psyched to keep it up now.  My last run before this one was just OK.  The one before that was agony.  It felt like I was being beaten for most of it.  I liken the sensation to someone hitting my legs and arms with a tire iron for most of the run.  Today…now that was a different story.  Perhaps it was finally a break in the heat, but it just felt good.  In fact, I felt really good…physically good for the whole run.

Now, I just have to keep it up.

Soundtrack for today:

His Hero Is Gone “Fifteen Counts…”LP
and
Doughnuts “The Age of the Circle” LP

GO!!!

  • Congrats on making it to 30 min!!! I remember very clearly when I hit that mark. You should be very proud. Keep up the good work!

  • HELL YEAH. I heard rumor you might join us for the Run Around the Square in a couple months? I’m stoked on that, though I’m also afraid it’ll be really warm and I’ll wilt. We’ll see. These hot days have been brutal — this morning I was amped to get out because it was finally in the 60s and I didn’t feel like I was in constant danger of keeling over.

  • Eric, I’m so fucking proud of you! This is a big deal. And just so you know, one-third of my runs are torture. It feels like I’ve got cinder blocks on for shoes.

And you AND Andy both better be doing Run Around the Square. I’m coming back for it, and it would be super rad to run with yinz.

  • that is awesome! i was just thinking today that i wondered how you were doing with that cause i have been contemplating taking up running. i hate it with a passion but i also hate my gerbil exercise as well, but thought getting outside might be a nice change of pace.

  • congratulations eric! i did that couch to 5 k program last summer but never got to 5 k running outside. i’m a hampster-style runner now–treadmill, treadmill, treadmill. keep up the good work, i bet you feel great!
