I’ve really been into looking at Filson stuff recently. (Here is a HISTORY OF THE COMPANY.) Their classics line is pretty damn nice. I think a lot of this stuff is “classic” enough to still be really functional and look great…not like some dress-up situation. I especially like the moleskin vests (the first two below). They may look a bit like something a hobbit would wear, but I don’t mind.

Kentuck Knob

When most people think of Frank Lloyd Wright, they tend (at least in Southwestern Penna.) to think of Fallingwater. That place is wonderful, but I generally think of Kentuck Knob. My wife took me there long before I ever got to Fallingwater, and even though it is a private residence, (and you pay them for the honor of walking through their house when they aren’t there…which is still VERY weird to me) I really like Kentuck Knob a lot. I’ve always especially liked the kitchen (below).

AMC Eagle

I am NOT a car guy in ANY way. I don’t know the first thing about automotives and I’m not a gear head/petrol head type. I DO, however like the look of certain cars. One, of course, is the El Camino (…but that’s another post…). The other is the AMC Eagle. There is one up the street from me, and I pass it almost every day. I’ve been looking at this thing for 7 years and it’s worked on me. I really dig it. What follows are some of the cooler images I found on-line of this sweet little machine!

Summer Insect Sounds

Above and below…Some of the culprits!

In September of 2008, August of 2009 and July of 2010 I posted blogs on this site about the sounds of summer insects and how amazing they are to me. I realized again the other night how taken I was with it. It was reason enough to switch off the TV and the music for the evening and just soak it in. Maybe it has something to do with noticing the small things as I age, or getting more in tune with the world around me, but whatever it is, the experience brings me great joy.

Happy summer, and happy summertime sounds.

It’s not easy to find Pirates gear for super cheap, now that they’re in first place. Ahhh, capitalism. Good thing I was a fan when nobody liked them. That’s when I snagged this Pirates Atlernate Cap for about 5.99…non wool, made in the USA. I LOVE that outline!
