Sometimes I find some good stuff at the Army/Navy Store.  I still wear the fatigue pants from time to time.  The camo patterns can be a bit intense, but the solid green and solid black pants are functional and look right for what they are.  (So many punk rock and hardcore shows…so little time!)

But one thing I’ve found at the Army/Navy Surplus place that has been a real treat are the pullover sweaters.

These are great.  Warm, rugged as hell and proper looking. 

The shoulder and elbow patches are nice touches.

These things last for a loooooong time and look right.

I checked out The Badder Meinhof Complex tonight.  I read an interesting review in a commie rag and thought it might be interesting.  A few impressions…the woman playing Meinhof looked like a very attractive German Tina Fey, which is fine by me.  In fact, most of the cast is very nice to look at.  The movie captures the rock star element of the Badder Meinhof Group and the Red Army Faction.  That is not to say they these folks weren’t terrorists and all of the baggage and issues that accompany that.

One thing that is nice is that the film maker tended to give a rather honest approach.  This is more of a “worts and all” kind of thing.  There are certainly unflattering elements to the story – of course depending on your own political / social outlook – and the film maker shows this.  From the elements of sexism within the group, to the violence, to the random nature of the actions, the story of the Badder Meinhof Group is discussed in a rather even-handed manner.

Likewise the issue of a larger analysis of global issues and larger global struggle is present throughout the film.  That concept, and the idea that resistance can be rooted in deeper, far-reaching issues, as well as localized actions, is explored pretty well. 

This film clocks in at 2 1/2 hours, is interesting, well filmed and worth it.  There is a lot of gritty violence, but given the subject matter it is fitting and done well.  Check it out.

Years ago I found this Pringle at a thrift store for a few dollars.

Classic design.  Brilliant quality.

What you want in a classic piece, scored for next to nothing.

Faconnable makes some sweet gear.  I scored this sweatshirt on the cheap a while back.

Great details on this piece.  Same color crest embroidered on the chest, understated and well done.

I love the red!

I’m not really tied to certain labels.  I dig certain looks, and if I find something that I dig, I go with it.  That’s one of the reasons I have some sweet Timberland stuff.  I tend to find Timberland pieces, usually on the cheap, and some of it looks proper.  When it does, sometimes I go with it. 

This orange jacket is a great find.  Really nice with some good technical bits and bobs (mesh liner, velcro cuffs, covered zips, well constructed hood and brim etc.).  I also like that there is only a tiny bit of branding, which is the same color as the jacket. 

Check the tiny reflective deal on the sleeve.  Small and understated…if anything can be understated on an orange jacket!

I found this Lacoste piece a year or so ago.  Really nice piece here.  Good wind breaker / light jacket kind of deal here.

It’s got a nice soft jersey liner, which adds a bit of warmth.
